College and Career Readiness Program

The Durham Literacy Center's College and Career Readiness program is designed to assist its clients with meeting the growing demands of the workforce. Individuals must possess credentials and abilities that will allow them to gain opportunities that will improve their lives as well as become contributing members of society. The CCR program is designed to equip all students served by the DLC with the knowledge and skills needed to move forward in obtaining new or better employment and the ability to pursue vocational or higher education opportunities.

The Durham Literacy Center's College and Career Readiness Program is designed with client success in mind. By integrating pre and post career education concepts into other programs, we are ready to assist our clients with development of career/education plans, documents, action plans, and knowledge on taking their next steps toward self-satisfaction and fulfillment of goals. Exposure to career and college planning and search concepts include: resume writing, interview prep, college and employment searches, self discovery using inventories, and more! As community opportunities for work arise we hope to provide linkages to them so that DLC clients will benefit.

Spring 2022 job skills workshops will begin May 18th, 2022 at the Durham Literacy Center. Workshops will be ran every Wednesday from 5:00pm-6:30pm.

These workshops will be partnering with the Durham Literacy Center's Digital Literacy Program.
