AmeriCorps Member needed for Adult Literacy

The Durham Literacy Center is looking for a full-time AmeriCorps Member for our Adult Literacy Program.

AmeriCorps members are an integral part of the Durham Literacy Center community, which includes more than 500 adults learners. Members work directly with our students, assist with curriculum, recruit volunteers, assist with tutor training, and manage program data. Their work makes a difference every day in improving lives through literacy.

The AmeriCorps year begins on August 20, 2018 and runs through July 31, 2019. AmeriCorps Full-Time Members will provide 1,700 hours of service with a 12 month commitment and receive a living allowance of up to $13,732. Upon successful completion of the 1,700 hours and other AmeriCorps requirements, full-time members are eligible to receive an additional educational award of $5,920, which they can use to pay off student loans or pay for future schooling.
