The Durham Literacy Center remains independent

The Durham Literacy Center has expressed concern that a recent name change to Wake County’s literacy organization might siphon support from the 30-year-old Durham organization. “Our board of directors wants to make it clear that we have no intention of merging with any other literacy organization and that we remain committed to our core mission,” stated a letter from Gail Faulkner Hudson, president of the Durham Literacy Center board, and Lizzie Ellis-Furlong, executive director.
