We get what we give as literacy volunteers

By Kelly Jones (The Herald-Sun, Published March 20, 2016)

DURHAM -- As an organization with a small staff and a big mission, the Durham Literacy Center relies on volunteers to do the majority of the instruction with our adult and out-of-school youth students. These volunteers serve in all of our programs: They co-teach English for Speakers of Other Languages classes, work one-on-one with adult literacy learners and spend their mornings guiding youth through lessons to help prepare them for the GED High School Equivalency Exam.
