Come join us for Book & Cook—a fun, hands-on experience where stories come to life!
Families are invited every Third Saturday to join us at the Durham Literacy Center for our Book & Cook events, a lively story time where we gather together to hear a wonderful children’s book. And the fun doesn’t stop when the story ends! With our friends from the DINE program, families have the opportunity to cook a recipe based on the story and enjoy the experience together. After that, it’s time to create! Our Story Time continues with fun, book-themed arts and crafts that encourage imagination and creativity.
DLC staff and volunteers are right there alongside our families, helping make each Book & Cook experience welcoming, engaging, and memorable. Each family gets to take home a copy of the featured book, along with the ingredients needed to recreate the recipe inspired by the story.
Story Time. Cooking. Creativity. Family Fun. Book & Cook brings it all together in one vibrant experience—and we’d love for your family to join us!
